Donald
J. MacDonald left us on May 26, 2009. He spent his
last weeks being well and kindly looked after by the
folks at Parkview Place in Enderby.
Don and Lillian spent the past 18
years living on a small acreage beside the river in
the Salmon Valley, where they were blessed with the
best neighbours and friends anyone could ask for
(Trudy and Steve, you know who you are). Don loved
the country life, the horses, the dogs and
cats, the tractor and the swarm of birds that he
spent a good portion of his pension to feed. Away
from the farm, he enjoyed his involvement with the
Salmon Arm Seniors Amateur Radio club. He was born
in 1928, in Viking Alberta, to parents Alex and
Ethel MacDonald.
Don joined
CKCO in the late 50s as a newsman who like most
on-air personalities at the time, did dual duty on
both TV and Radio.
Don is survived by his
wonderfully patient wife of 59 years - Lillian, son
Kevin and daughter-in-law Janice, grandson Greg and
wife Meghan, and grandson Marcus; sister Margaret
Tompkins from Burnaby and her family.
If
you’d like to do something special to remember Don,
the family would appreciate your contribution to the
charity of your choice in his name, or set out a
birdfeeder this fall.
